Erick Lee Purkhiser (October 21, 1946 – February 4, 2009), better known by the stage name Lux Interior, was an American singer and a founding member of the psychobilly band The Cramps from 1972 until his death.

POISON IVY: He met his wife Kristy Wallace, better known as Poison Ivy, a.k.a. Ivy Rorschach, in Sacramento in 1972, when he and a friend picked her up when she was hitchhiking. The couple founded the band after they moved from California to Ohio in 1973, and then to New York in 1975, where they soon became part of the flourishing punk scene.

NAPA STATE MENTAL HOSPITAL: In June 1978, they gave a landmark free concert for patients at the California State Mental Hospital in Napa, recorded on a Sony Portapak video camera by the San Francisco collective Target Video and later released as Live at Napa State Mental Hospital.

HUMAN FLY: One of their most famous song, written by Lux and Ivy. It was part of the songs played at the Napa Mental Hospital and was said to be inspired by the horror film The Fly. There is also a cult promotional video for the song that was made in 1978.
