Thomas Lanier "Tennessee" Williams III (March 26, 1911 – February 25, 1983) was an American playwright. He is considered among the foremost playwrights of 20th-century American drama.

NEW ORLEANS: In his over 40 years living in New Orleans, famed playwright Tennessee Williams resided in several French Quarter locations. He was quoted saying: “America has only three cities: New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland.”

RAMOS GIN FIZZ: The drink was featured many times in his writings. The Ramos Fizz heralds from New Orleans and harks back to 1888 and was his cocktail of choice.

"HEY STELLA !": The drama A Streetcar Named Desire is often regarded as among the finest plays of the 20th century, and is considered by many to be Williams' greatest. In the film adaptation, there is a now iconic scene of Marlon Brando screaming for Stella, which is one of the most parodied scenes in cinema.
