William Seward Burroughs (February 5, 1914 – August 2, 1997) was an American writer. He was a contemporary and friend of writers Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac.

DR.BENWAY: Dr. Benway is the name of a recurring character in many of his novels, including Naked Lunch and Nova Express.

JUNKIE: His first published work, it is semi-autobiographical and focuses on Burroughs' life as a drug user and dealer. It has come to be considered a seminal text on the lifestyle of heroin addicts in the early 1950s.

WILLIAM TELL ACT: In 1951, Burroughs killed his wife Joan after shooting her in the head while playing William Tell.
