EDIE SEDGWICK MYSTERY SWEATSHIRT
EDIE SEDGWICK MYSTERY SWEATSHIRT
Edith Minturn Sedgwick (April 20, 1943 – November 16, 1971) was an American actress and fashion model. She is best known for being one of Andy Warhol's superstars.
CLUE#1 SHOCK TREATMENT
Andy Warhol was often blamed for Edie Sedgwick's descent into drug addiction and mental illness. However, before meeting Warhol, Edie had been in mental hospitals twice and came from a family with a history of mental illness. Edie was in the hospital multiple times and again in the summer of 1970 but was let out under the supervision of two nurses to finish Ciao! Manhattan. For the shock treatment segment in the film, a real clinic was used and Edie knew exactly how the gag should be placed and how the airway went in.Soon afterwards, suffering from the DT's, Edie was admitted to the same clinic they used to film the shock treatment in Ciao Manhattan, where she had twenty or more real shock treatments.
Ciao! Manhattan is the semi-biographical tale of 1960s counterculture icon Edie Sedgwick. Ciao! captures the complete deterioration of Sedgwick's fictional alter-ego. The striking similarities between Sedgwick and Susan's life story, especially when recounted by Sedgwick in the midst of drug-induced audio interviews, make the film's candid depiction of excess and celebrity especially haunting. The film is dedicated to the memory of Sedgwick and ends with the actual headlines announcing Sedgwick's (not Susan Superstar's) death, thus inseparably associating the fictional and the genuine figure
CLUE#3 POOR LITTLE RICH GIRL
With her twenty-first birthday, celebrated in Cambridge, and with her coming of age, Sedgwick received an $80,000 trust fund from her maternal grandmother and sought a new life in New York City to pursue a career in modeling. In March 1965, Sedgwick met artist and avant-garde filmmaker Andy Warhol at a party at Lester Persky's apartment. She generated enough interest that Warhol decided to do movies with her. The first of those films, Poor Little Rich Girl, was originally conceived as part of a series of films featuring Sedgwick called The Poor Little Rich Girl Saga. Filming began in March 1965 in Sedgwick's apartment. Like the majority of Warhol's avant-garde films, Poor Little Rich Girl saw a limited release to underground film theaters and viewings at The Factory.
