Ian Kevin Curtis (15 July 1956 – 18 May 1980) was an English singer-songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of the post-punk band Joy Division.

CLUE#1 THE IDIOT

Prior to his suicide, Curtis had viewed Werner Herzog's 1977 film Stroszek and listened to Iggy Pop's album The Idiot.

CLUE#2 "LOVE WILL TEAR US APART"

A memorial stone, inscribed with "Ian Curtis 18 – 5 – 80" and "Love Will Tear Us Apart", was placed above his ashes. The song was first released as a single in June 1980 and became the band's first chart hit.

CLUE#3 CANDY

Curtis’s dog was Candy named after the Velvet Underground song, Candy Says.
