NICO MYSTERY SWEATSHIRT
Christa Päffgen (16 October 1938 – 18 July 1988), known by her stage name Nico, was a German singer, songwriter, musician, model, and actress. She came to prominence in the 1960s as a Warhol superstar.
CLUE#1 I'LL BE YOUR MIRROR
Lou Reed wrote the song for Nico, who provides lead vocals. Inspiration for the song apparently came about after Nico approached Reed after a show in 1965 saying, "Oh Lou, I'll be your mirror." The song was a favorite of Reed's. The members of the band enjoyed her particular performance on the song so much that after she left the band in late 1967, live vocals for the song were done imitating Nico's accent.
Nico was born Christa Päffgen in Cologne. When she was two years old, she moved with her mother and grandfather to the Spreewald forest outside of Berlin to escape the World War II bombardments of Cologne. In 1946, Nico and her mother relocated to downtown Berlin, eventually getting modeling jobs. At five feet ten inches and with chiseled features and porcelain skin, Nico rose to prominence as a fashion model as a teenager.Nico lies buried in her mother's plot in Grunewald Forest Cemetery in Berlin.
CLUE#3 CHELSEA GIRL
Her first solo album, the name of the album is a reference to Andy Warhol's 1966 film Chelsea Girls, in which Nico starred. The film was an experimental reality movie that focused on the various residents of the Hotel Chelsea during Warhol's Factory days. Many of them were Bohemian artists, drop outs, and drug addicts, which is also described in the lyrics of the song, and also referred to are turning tricks, heroin, S&M, amphetamine and silver foil.
