Quentin Crisp (born Denis Charles Pratt; 25 December 1908 – 21 November 1999) was an English writer. He changed his name to Quentin Crisp in his twenties after leaving home and cultivating his effeminate appearance to a standard that both shocked contemporary Londoners and provoked homophobic attacks.

CLUE#1 THE BLACK CAT

After leaving school Crisp began visiting the cafés of Soho – his favorite being The Black Cat in Old Compton Street – meeting other young homosexual men and rent-boys, and experimenting with make-up and women's clothes.

CLUE#2 "YES, LORD?"

For the first twenty or so years of owning his own telephone he habitually answered calls with the phrase: "Yes, Lord?" ("Just in case," he once said.) Later on he changed it to: "Oh yes?" in a querulous tone of voice.

CLUE#3 THE NAKED CIVIL SERVANT

The Naked Civil Servant is his 1968 autobiography. The book contains many anecdotes about Crisp's life, including troubles he faced by refusing to hide his homosexuality and flamboyant lifestyle during a time when such behavior was criminalized in the United Kingdom.
